Dear friend, thank you very much for your question, here you have not mentioned your educational qualifications and what you are doing currently. The nature of job of a laboratory attendant to look after the routine jobs of a laboratory. There are many institutions and universities which offer many diploma courses. The main diploma courses are ;
Diploma in Medical laboratory Technology, Diploma in Radiology, Diploma in electronics, Diploma in Clinical microbiology and many more.
The diploma in medical laboratory technology, this is twelve months jobs program, divided into two semesters , where the students get hands on training on all sorts of techniques related to medical aspects, under the supervision of expert pathologist or trained experts. On successful completion of training the students are also offered placements by institutes. The main subjects covered under the diploma program are microbiology principles and applications, bacteriology techniques, pathology, biochemistry, mycology and parasitology, hematology and clinical pathology, histotechnology, blood banking, Immunology., basics of anatomy and physiology,
lab Attendant
The opportunity of medical laboratory technology course is huge and there are many pathological laboratories, hospitals, diagnostic and medical lab, medical records and transcription organizations, clinical and medical research organizations, pharma and biotech companies, medical equipments and device companies and the school, colleges and universities laboratories, and finally blood banks where the medical laboratory technologist get opportunity.
The eligibility is +2 in science from a recognized institution / colleges or university.
Diploma in Radiology and diagnostics, here the diploma is of one year and divided into two semesters. The candidates are given training for radiology (X-Ray) and other related techniques. The course will train the students to X-ray the patients and other related techniques.

Diploma in electrical and electronics; this is also of one year diploma program, the students are trained about the electronic and electrical equipments. How to repair and how to use the instruments.

As you have mentioned in your question that to become laboratory attendant, you opt for a course of you will learn your own. In my opinion, training through the course program will be better, because you will learn under the guidance of experts and you will be given training on latest equipments. While this will not be possible by your own training. If there is any query then you can get the answer form the experts.
With all my best wishes,

Good Luck
