Research Analyst as the name suggest has to do lot of Search of data have to analysis the data and interacting with different people in management of companies and bureaucrats in governments to understand the policies of Government and based on policies of the government, plans of management.

Lets first understand what does research analyst do :

1) Understanding of Sector for which he would do a research
2) Finding Data of Financials of these companies
3) Comparing with Other Companies of Same domain
4) Doing a trend analysis
5) Meeting with Management from the company
6) Understanding of growth plan from management
7) Interacting with Other stack holders of company like suppliers, customers
8) Meeting Government officials to understand policies for that industry or sector
9) Reporting based on research in a summary report
10) Explaining the finding and convincing the client to take a decision based on the finding of the research


In the Above points we can easily see that most of the time research analyst spend is taking to people to understand and find the level of confidence, thus its very important to have good communication and interpersonal skills.

Research analyst at the end has to sell his idea and research at every level, thus interpersonal skills are very important. Research analyst has to have a very good relationship with management, clients and government official to be successful and thus there is a very high need to have a very good interpersonal skills
