If you are planning to pursue a career as a Chef you need to consider follwoing points in terms of trainings and education:

1. A decent education is recommended for those planning a career as a cook or chef. High school or vocational school courses in culinary are particularly helpful. Many government and private institutions offer short courses, training and summer workshops for cafeteria kitchen workers with aspirations of becoming cooks.

2. There are many private corporations in the food service and hotel industries which offer paid internships and summer jobs, which can provide valuable experience. For the internship, you need to be a students of hotel management.

3. To achieve the level of skill required of an executive chef or cook in a fine restaurant, many years of training and experience are necessary. An increasing number of chefs and cooks obtain their training through high school, post-high school vocational programs, or 3- or 4-years programs in hotel management colleges. Chefs and cooks also may be trained in apprenticeship programs offered by professional culinary institutes, industry associations, and trade unions.

4. If you study in culinary courses in hotel management college it will be quite helpful. These
training programs often include courses in menu planning, determination of portion size, food cost control, purchasing food supplies in quantity, selection and storage of food, and use of leftover food to minimize waste. Students also learn hotel and restaurant sanitation and public health rules for handling food.

5. You can get certified in culinary courses by studying part time. Many private institutions offer these courses and are helpful in getting you a job as a Chef.
Certification standards are based primarily on experience and formal training.

6.Training in supervisory and management skills sometimes is emphasized in courses offered by private vocational schools, professional associations, and university programs. There are quite a few number of such programs avaialble in India.

7. Make sure you get a degree, diploma or certification from a college which is accredited by national and international organizations.
Accreditation is an indication that a culinary program meets recognized standards regarding course content, facilities, and quality of instruction.

If you can work on any of these trainings, they will be helpful for you in getting you a job.
