Hope you are doing well. I just read your question and i found that many students have this question in their mind, which is very common amongst the students when they are thinking of opting creative and challenging field as their career.Just because they are not aware what are the educational qualifications and basic skills are needed they give up many a times. Here is an answer to your query.

Textile Industry has been a great Career Industry since long time. Their have been a great revolution in this industry. its one of the most Oldest creation of Human being in History. Fashion and Lifestyle always had a great impact on this industry in order to meet the demand of Lifestyle, Fashion and Creativity. There is huge range of Textile production and designing in different parts of the world giving an immense scope for designers to show their creativity and to do different experiments in textile industry. It involves understanding of traditional techniques as well as modern techniques of mass production. This industry is receiving a global recognition with many international brands and fashion designers.

Students aspiring to go in this industry should have certain skills that will be helpful to groom in this industry as students work with Textile production houses,Export houses,Multinational brands,Fashion studios etc. Or one may also set up its own production house.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED (ELIGIBILITY) :-

Degree in Design ( Textiles/Fashion/Accessory/Knitwear/Interior);

Fine Arts or Architecture

OR

Diploma in Handloom Technology/Textile Technology (under 10+2+3yr/4yr)


AND

Students willing to go for Textile Designing course have to meet some eligibility criteria . Most of the Universities conduct various entrance exam and to be eligible for these exams one must have appeared or have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized institute.

Entrance Exams:
1. Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED)
2. National Counsel for Interior Design Qualification Exam
3. National Level Entrance Aptitude Test (NLAT)
4. National Entrance Exam for Design (NEED)
5. NID Entrance Test


6. NIFT Entrance Exam

While a student also have other route to get into textile designing by opting BSc in Home Science which offers Apparel and Fabric/Textile. This course is offered in Limited Universities and unfortunately these Home Science courses are only for Girls/Womens.
