Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the HTET, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a minimum educational qualification of a bachelor’s degree in education (B.Ed.) or its equivalent. Candidates must also have completed the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) recognized teacher training course.
  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for the HTET. However, candidates must be at least 21 years of age on the date of the exam.
  • Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders.

Primary Teacher (PRT):

Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT):

  • Candidates must have passed a bachelor’s degree with at least 45% marks and a two-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from a recognized university, provided they belong to a reserved category.

Post Graduate Teacher (PGT):

  • Candidates must have passed a master’s degree in a relevant subject with at least 50% marks and a two-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from a recognized university.
  • Candidates must have passed a master’s degree in a relevant subject with at least 45% marks and a two-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from a recognized university, provided they belong to a reserved category.
