The latest notification for the All India Bar Examination 2023 has been released by the Bar Council of India (BCI). The exam will be held on October 29, 2023, in multiple cities across India.
To be eligible to take the AIBE 2023, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Have a three-year LL.B. degree from a recognized university.
- Be enrolled with a State Bar Council.
The AIBE 2023 will be a two-day exam, with each day consisting of three hours. The exam will be conducted in objective test format.
- Registration
Given below are the step-by-step instructions to register 2023 Application Form:
- Visit the official website and read all instructions provided there before filling out the online application form
- Fill out the registration form with your personal details like Name, DOB, Address details, contact information, nationality, etc.
- Select the examination center, the candidate can choose only one center where he/she wishes to attempt AIBE 2023
- Candidates have to upload documents such as an advocate ID card (if issued by State Bar Council), enrolment certificate, scanned photograph and signature, category, and disability certificate (if applicable).
- Once candidates have submitted their application form then go to your email inbox for the registration number and password.
- Login with your registration number and password
- Payment of the application fee can only be done through SBI Challan. No other mode of payment will be accepted. Payment has to be made after 24 hours of Registration
- Print Challan for payment. Make the necessary payment and retain candidates’ copies of the challan with you.
- After confirmation of the payment, upload challan and provide details such as journal number, branch code & date of challan.
- Get a printout of the filled online form for future references.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria is set by the Bar Council of India. Before applying for AIBE 2023, applicants must be aware of the eligibility criteria set by the conducting body, the Bar Council of India. Given below are Eligibility Criteria, given as follows:
Nationality
- Applicants should be Indian nationals.
Qualifying Examination
- Applicants must either have passed 3 years or 5 years LL.B. degree from a BCI recognized law school.
- No minimum percentage is required in the qualifying examination in order to apply for AIBE 2023.
Enrollment with State Bar Council
- In order to appear in AIBE (All India Bar Examination), it is a must for the aspirant/law graduate to be enrolled with his/her respective State Bar Council.
- Applicants must possess the advocate enrollment card issued by State Bar Council.
Age Criteria and Number of Attempts
- There is no prescribed age limit for writing AIBE 2023 Exam.
- There is no limit in attempts for AIBE. Candidates can appear in this examination any number of times.

- Exam Pattern
- AIBE 2023 Exam Pattern is set by the Bar Council of India. Applicants are tested on their knowledge of undergraduate-level law.
- AIBE is a pen and paper-based test. The total time duration will be of 3 hours 30 minutes.
- AIBE Exam will be conducted in 11 languages and candidates can choose their preferred language to take the examination in any one of the languages.
- AIBE Exam Question Paper contains a total of 100 questions of the objective type from 19 subjects related to law.
- These 20 subjects will be divided into Category-I and Category-II.
- Bar Council of India has also allowed candidates appearing in AIBE 2023 the usage of bare acts with short comments.
- In AIBE Exam, OMR Answer sheets will be given to the candidates to mark the answers. It is mandatory for the aspirants to use a ballpoint pen only, for all the entries in the OMR Answer sheets including the filling of bubbles. If there is more than one answer bubbled against a question, it will be considered as an incorrect answer.
