The Thanjavur Medical College was founded in 1959 to serve the health-care requirements of the people of Thanjavur and the surrounding areas. It has evolved into a multi-specialty post-graduate institution since that time. The Govt. Raja Mirasdar Hospital and the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital are the two hospitals at Thanjavur Medical College. Every year, 150 M.B.B.S., 67 Post Graduate students of various specialties, 60 Pharmacy students, and 125 nursing students are trained at this college.
