UPPSC stands for Uttar Pradesh public service commission and UPSC Civil service examination (CSE). UPPSC is the state agency that conducts the Civil Services Exam for entry-level appointments to the various Group A and Group B Civil services of Uttar Pradesh. UPPSC conducts the civil service examination to recruit suitable candidates for IAS, IPS, IFS, and other varied services.

UPSC is one of the examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission it’s a highly competitive exam. It is India’s central recruiting agency to various Civil Services of the Government of India. UPSC and UPPSC exams are different from each other are some of the vital differences among them are-

The key difference between the UPSC and UPPSC exams is like one is nationwide and the other is a state agency. UPSC has a higher official ranking than UPPSC. The level of exam is tough for UPSC than UPPSC. One should choose wisely before making a decision.

Age Limit

UPPSC-

For UPPSC candidates must be of the age of 21 years and must have not crossed the age of 40 years of the notification date.

UPSC-

For UPSC candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have crossed the age of 32 years on the 1st August 2021.

Number Of Attempts

UPSC exams have some restrictions on the number of times a candidate may attempt the exam. For different categories, it is as follow-

  • General Category-6
  • OBC Category- 9
  • SC/ST Category- Unlimited

For UPPSC there are no maximum attempts as such.

Educational Qualifications

The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in any subject from any recognized University. Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) specifically announces different educational qualifications for different posts.

The civil service exams have three stages which are-

  1. Prelim examination
  2. Main examination
  3. Personality Test or interview

PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION

UPPSC

The preliminary examination of the UPPSC exam consists of two compulsory papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. The prelims exam are based on the different political systems, Panchayati Raj, general issues, poverty right, issues, etc. The other paper consists of logical reasoning, general mental ability, and others.

The nature of the question is of objective type and they are conducted offline. One paper consists of 150 questions and the second is of 100 questions. Both papers are of 200 marks each and two hours duration. Candidates need to score 33% marks in Paper 2.

UPSC

The preliminary exam consists of two papers- General Studies, General studies 2. The nature of the question is objective type both papers are of 200 marks each and 2 hours. General studies have 100 questions and general studies 2 have 80 questions. The candidate needs to score 33% to qualify for CSAT. There is a negative marking of one-third for every incorrect answer in both papers.

Uppsc And Upsc MAIN EXAMINATION

UPPSC Main Examination

UPPSC Main examination consists of different papers. Candidates who cleared the preliminary examination are called for the mains examination. The UPPSC mains examination is descriptive in nature. Candidates are expected to write answers in essay form. There are few compulsory subjects and optional subjects. The duration for each paper is of 3 hours and the total marks are 1500.

UPSC Main Examination

UPSC Main examination consists of Paper A & Paper B and 7 Papers.  Compulsory Indian Language and English Paper are 300 marks each and they are qualifying in nature. Rests of the papers are 250 marks each and the duration for the same is 3 hours the nature of the paper is merit-based. The question paper is descriptive-based. Except for language papers, Paper A and Paper B, scores and all the other papers will determine your rank hence the total score will be out of 1750. It is mandatory to score at least 25% in each paper to be evaluated while the final selection.

UPPSC Personal Interview

The total mark allotted for the UPPSC personal interview is 100. The candidate needs to prepare themselves on different topics and should be socially aware.

UPSC Personal Interview

The maximum mark allotted for the personal interview is 275. Thus the total mark for the merit is 2075.

Whether be it UPSC or UPPSC exams One needs very thorough and dedicated  UPSC exams are more tough and vast as compared to UPPSC they are a nationwide exam. Thus, the details are related to world geography, history, and current affairs. While the UPPSC syllabus also covers all the facts and current affairs related to India but it focuses especially on the state. One should choose wisely and then prepare and set goals for themselves. These exams are tough to crack but with hard work and determination, you can ace them.
