Q. Tell us why did you decide to be in careerguide? Tell us about your journey as a career coach, educational psychologist, and certified counselor.
Her psychologist’s journey to a counselor started when she saw students in 2nd and 3rd year of college struggling, and she thought she could help some if not all of them (She has mentored around 1500 students in the last few years, and she counseled about 3000-4000 engineering graduates). She has a daughter who just finished 12th grade and is pursuing engineering along with an analytics course.
Q. Tell us more about your educational background. And tell us more about Gyandeep.
She started her career as an applied microbiologist and not as a psychologist, and she spent 5 to 7 years in the food industry. Along with marriage and jumping to different continents, she could not manage it, and she ultimately settled in London. Q. Do you feel this is beyond money where you can impact the students’ life in a very different manner? You are their mentor, guide..
She said, “yes, absolutely; when you are a successful career coach, very soon you will realize that it’s not about the money . It is about the success of the people whom you have mentored or guided.” Mrs. Nithya runs the organization Gyan deep for specially-abled students. Along with this, she is also a part of a group called “careers4sure,” which came together with alumni of careerguide. They are a group of 8 to 10 people working in the field of career counseling and are very successful in their business.
Q. As careerguide runs a community of career counselors for a very long time, how do you feel it helped in your self-development and development in your career? How do you think about collaboration with other counselors?
Mrs. Nithya said that she learned about collaboration from careerguide. During her one course at careerguide, they collaborated with the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), where they counseled around 500 students. She also added that you don’t share your success when you collaborate, but you increase it by ten times, as you would be able to reach out to more students.
Q. If we take that you invested, let’s say X amount of money in careerguide, how do you feel about the rate of interest (ROI) you gained after the courses?
She categorized her ROI in two ways- direct and indirect. Under direct ROI, she said that she gained a minimum of 4 to 5 times what she invested in careerguide. Through careerguide, she gave on-call counseling to students, and she also participated in the opportunities posted by careerguide. These all were the direct ROI from careerguide. Her contacts she made in careerguide refer students to her for counseling which she also includes in direct ROI. In indirect ROI, she quoted that “careers4sure” exits because of services provided by careerguide.
Q. What are the services you are giving right now at gyandeep and careers for sure? And, how can viewers reach out to you?
She specializes in anything regarding special needs education, vocations, or how to get exemptions for dyslexic, dyscalculic kids, or even blind kids. - Secondly, train yourselves, don’t just go for learning through various certificate courses but also practice more in the real-life field, put those learnings into practice.
