Chandigarh University (CU) has once again solidified its status as a leader in Indian higher education by reclaiming the top position among private Indian universities in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2025. Surpassing many of the country’s prestigious institutions, including several IITs and NITs, CU now ranks #120 among top HEIs in Asia.

India’s representation in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2025 has reached a new high, driven by strides in research, innovation, and academic standards across the nation. With 162 Indian Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) featured, including 21 new entries, India now stands as the most represented country in Asia, surpassing China’s 145 and Japan’s 105 institutions. The QS World University Rankings: Asia 2025 report, which evaluated 6,278 universities from 25 countries on 11 key performance indicators, highlights India’s prominence in the region.

Chandigarh University’s performance is particularly noteworthy. Moving up from the 149th position in 2024 to the 120th in 2025, CU has positioned itself firmly among the nation’s top institutions, ranking first among India’s private universities and 11th overall among all Indian universities. The university’s rise reflects a well-rounded approach to academic rigor and a dedication to producing employable graduates who meet global standards.

CU’s success extends beyond India’s borders, surpassing several esteemed universities from China, Japan, and South Korea. Additionally, CU holds the distinction of being the youngest Indian institution to reach this rank among public and private Indian universities.

The university’s impressive scores across QS’s performance indicators speak to its strengths: a score of 90.5 in Employer Reputation, 72.4 in International Faculty Ratio, 55.9 in International Research Network, 54.4 in International Student Ratio, 54.2 in Academic Reputation, and 52.9 in Faculty Student Ratio. These metrics highlight CU’s sustained excellence across academic standards, faculty quality, and global reputation.
