Kashmir University is a public research university located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is the oldest university in the state and one of the largest universities in India. The University was founded in 1902 by the Dogra ruler, Maharaja Pratap Singh, as a small college with only a few departments. Kashmir University Admission

Kashmir University Application Process

- Agha Shahid Ali (1949-2001) :- Poet, essayist, and translator. He was known for his ghazals, or Urdu poems, which were often infused with themes of loss, exile, and homeland.
- Ghulam Nabi Azad (born 1949) :- Politician who served as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare from 2006 to 2009 and as the Minister of Human Resource Development from 2009 to 2014. He was also the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 2005 to 2008.
- Karan Singh (1931-2020) :- Politician and diplomat who served as the Sadr-e-Riyasat (head of state) of Jammu and Kashmir from 1952 to 1964 and as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir from 1981 to 2002. He was also the President of the Indian Olympic Association from 1982 to 1984.

- Mirwaiz Umar Farooq (born 1973) :- Politician who is the current chairman of the Hurriyat Conference, a pro-independence political party in Jammu and Kashmir. He is the son of Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq, who was the leader of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 1982 to 1983.
- Saifuddin Soz (born 1937) :- Politician who served as the Minister of Tourism from 1986 to 1989 and as the Minister of Water Resources from 1990 to 1996. He is a member of the Indian National Congress party.
- Syed Salahuddin (born 1936) :- Founder and leader of the Hizbul Mujahideen, a militant group that is fighting for the independence of Jammu and Kashmir from India. He is also known as “Syed Sahab” or “Mujahid-e-Kashmir”.
- Sunanda Pushkar (1962-2014) :- Journalist and author who was married to Shashi Tharoor, the former Minister of State for External Affairs of India. She was found dead in a hotel room in New Delhi in 2014. Her death is still being investigated.
