Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, also known as KIIT, is situated in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. It was established in 1992 and, they began with just 12 students. It has come a long way since then and has gained great fame and success. It has 30,000 students currently and is ranked 24th by NIRF as of 2020. It was also awarded the Institute of Eminence title. Admissions
Admission to Bachelor of Technology courses is done through the test called KIITEE. The exam contains questions from the subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each question will have 4 options for you to choose from, every correct answer will give you 4 points, and every wrong will deduct 1 point. The total time allotted for the test is 120 minutes.
Some of the streams offered are Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.
Most of the Students opt for Computer Science & Engineering, making it the most preferred branch. Computer Science & Engineering has got the best placement in terms of the salary offered by the recruiters during on-campus placement. The highest package offered was 39 LPA.

AMENITIES AVAILABLE AT KIIT
KIIT has a huge campus spanning 700 acres. The campus offers sports facilities such as an Indoor Badminton court, Basketball court, Hockey ground, and a Cricket ground. The Campus has very large grounds for the sports mentioned above. They also have a Squash complex, 2 Swimming pools, and a Yoga room. They have Billiards & Chess Halls and Gyms too!
1. Tell us about your experience of studying in KIIT for 1 year
The experience has been great. It is a lot better than I had expected. The college has handled the online classes very well. The teachers are knowledgeable and try their best to share their knowledge.
2. What was the cutoff for your branch last year?
KIITEE is conducted for admission to the college. For my branch, CSE the cutoff rank was 5,000.
3. How is the faculty?
The faculty is good. They are knowledgeable teachers and try their best to share their knowledge with the students. They are helpful and disciplined.
4. How many students are there per class?
70 students per class.

5. Are the online classes interactive?
Depends on the teacher. I would say most of the teachers with their students. The doubts asked by the students are cleared in the class itself.
6. Can you tell us about what items KIIT provides to their first-year students?
We get subject books and a laptop(notebook).
7. What extracurricular activities do the teachers suggest students pursue?
In KIIT, there is a rule in which the 1st year students are not allowed to do any extracurricular activities in the college. So teachers don’t suggest any.
8. What extracurricular activities does KIIT offer?
From the 2nd year KIIT offers a lot of extracurricular activities. There are many clubs for dramatics, dancing, singing, tennis, swimming, debate, speech, etc. There is even a proper cricket ground on the campus.
9. Were there any hidden charges apart from the ones mentioned on their website?
No, there were no major hidden charges. There is a fee of Rs. 1000 required for appearing in exams for each semester. Apart from it nothing else.
10. How's the startup culture at KIIT?
I haven’t been able to experience it myself as I’m a 1st yr student, but from what I have heard from teachers and students, the startup culture here is very encouraging and supportive.

11. Do you have any lab classes (Apart from the Computer lab)? If yes, how do the teachers take it online?
Yes, we have online classes for chemistry, physics, BEE, and AEC. The teachers play videos of the lab assistant experimenting and, we learn from watching the video and note the observations (readings).
12. What's the best thing and the worst thing about KIIT that you have observed to date?
The best thing about KIIT is its campus. It is huge and has all the facilities a person can think of. The worst thing about KIIT would be that the college is pretty expensive.
20 lakhs for engineering is too much, even for a private university.
13. How is the course curriculum?
he course curriculum is up to date here. It gets changed/updated every 5 yrs or so keeping in mind what’s best for the students. All the subjects taught are necessary for an engineer and, even some extras for personality development are good.
14. Is there anything else you would like to tell the readers?
Yes, your college does impact your career, but it does not define it. It doesn’t matter if you work hard towards your goal, then you can achieve it by tackling your obstacles.
