BAG stands for Bachelor of Arts (General). It is a 3-year undergraduate degree program offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The BAG program is offered in a distance education mode, and it is open to all students who have passed the 12th standard examination.

IGNOU BAG EXAM

The BAG exam is conducted by IGNOU twice a year, in June and December. The exam dates for the year 2023 have not yet been announced. However, the exam is usually conducted in the first week of June and the first week of December.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the BAG (Bachelor of Arts – General) exam are as follows:

There are some relaxations in the eligibility criteria for certain categories of candidates, such as:

  • SC/ST/PwD candidates: 45% marks in aggregate in the 10+2 examination.
  • Candidates who have passed the BPP (Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme) from IGNOU: 40% marks in aggregate in the 10+2 examination.

Exam Syllabus

The total number of credits for the BAG exam is 132. The core courses carry 72 credits, the discipline specific electives carry 24 credits, the ability enhancement compulsory courses carry 8 credits, and the skill enhancement courses carry 16 credits.
