The BARC Exam, or the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Exam, is a recruitment exam conducted by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for the recruitment of Scientific Assistants and Stipendiary Trainees in various disciplines. The exam is held in two stages: a written exam and an interview.

The composed exam may be a computer-based test (CBT) of 60 minutes length. It comprises of 40 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with 3 marks for each rectify reply and 1 check deducted for each inaccurate reply. The syllabus for the composed exam is based on subjects at Confirmation / B.Sc. level as the case may be.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational qualification:
    • B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engineering)/5-year Integrated M.Tech. in Nuclear Engineering/Nuclear Technology/Nuclear Science & Technology with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks
    • M.Sc. in Physics or Chemistry with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks with Physics and Chemistry up to B.Sc. or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of 5-year integrated M.Sc.
    • M.Sc. in any other discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks and a valid GATE score in the relevant discipline

The candidates must also have two subjects out of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry up to B.Sc. or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of 5-year integrated M.Sc./5-year integrated M. Tech., with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in M.Sc./M. Tech.
