The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) Exam is a national-level exam conducted by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) to recruit officers for various audit posts in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD). The IA&AD is responsible for auditing the accounts of all government departments and organizations in India.

Eligibility Criteria

CAG Exam

The eligibility criteria for CAG Exam are as follows:

  • Indian citizen
  • Age between 21 and 28 years (as of the date of notification)
  • Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university
  • Good physical and mental health

Exam Pattern

The CAG Exam consists of two stages:

  • Written Examination
  • Interview

The Written Examination is a 3-hour, objective-type exam with 200 questions. The questions are divided into two sections:

  • Section I: General Ability and Intelligence (100 marks)
  • Section II: Auditing and Accounts (100 marks)

The Interview is a 30-minute, personal interview with a panel of officers from the IA&AD.

The syllabus of the Exam covers the following subjects:

  • General Ability and Intelligence
    • General Mental Ability
    • General Science
    • Current Events of National and International Importance
    • Indian Polity and Economy
    • History of India
    • Indian and World Geography
  • Auditing and Accounts

The salary of a CAG officer depends on the rank and experience. The starting salary for an Assistant Audit Officer is around Rs. 30,000 per month.
