Gate Exam Candidates must pass the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), an Indian national exam, in order to be admitted to the Master of Engineering (M.E. ), Master of Technology (M.Tech), and Ph.D. programs. It assesses the students’ technical and scientific knowledge. On behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, it is jointly managed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee.
What is Gate Exam ?
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admission into postgraduate programs. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology at Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai (Madras) and Mumbai (Bombay) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India

Gate Application Form 2023
To apply for the GATE 2023 exam, follow these steps:
- Visit the official website of GATE 2023: https://gate.iitk.ac.in/
- Click on the “Apply Online” link on the homepage.
- Create an account by entering your name, email address, and phone number.
- Once your account is created, log in and proceed to fill the application form.
- Fill in all the required details, such as your personal details, academic details, GATE paper(s) to be applied for, category, PwD status (if applicable), and contact details.
- Upload the required documents, such as a scanned copy of your passport-size photograph, scanned copy of your signature, category certificate (if applicable), and PwD certificate (if applicable).
- Pay the application fee using credit card, debit card, or net banking.
- Review your application form and submit it
Eligibility Criteria
Following are the requirements to take the GATE 2023 exam:
- Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology or a master’s degree in any related science from a reputable university or institution.
- Age: The GATE test is open to candidates of any age.
- Nationality: Candidates may take the GATE test if they are residents of India or Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, or the United Arab Emirates.
- B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm.:
- Qualifying Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after B.Sc./Diploma in Engineering/Technology)
- Eligible Candidates: Currently in the 3rd year or higher or already completed
- Expected Year of Completion: 2024
- B.Arch.:
- Qualifying Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (5-year course)/Naval Architecture (4-year course)/Planning (4-year course)
- Eligible Candidates: Currently in the 3rd year or higher or already completed
- Expected Year of Completion: 2025 (for 5-year program), 2024 (for 4-year program)
- B.Sc. (Research)/B.S.:
- Qualifying Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Science (Post-Diploma/4 years after 10+2)

- Pharm. D. (after 10+2):
- Qualifying Degree: 6 years degree program, consisting of internship or residency training, during the third year onwards
