The Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) is a state-level examination conducted by the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU), Vadodara, on behalf of the Gujarat State Government. It is a qualifying examination for the post of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges in Gujarat. The GSET exam is also required for eligibility to NET JRF.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

To be eligible for the GSET exam, candidates must have:

  • A Master’s degree in the subject of GSET from a UGC-recognized university or institution, with at least 55% marks for General/General-EWS candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST/SEBC-NCL/PH/VH/Transgender candidates.
  • Candidates who are appearing in the final year of their Master’s degree examination and waiting for their results are also eligible to apply.

Other Eligibility Criteria

  • There is no age limit for appearing in the GSET exam.
  • Candidates must be Indian citizens.
  • Candidates who have already qualified for UGC NET/UGC-CSIR NET are not eligible to apply for GSET in the same subject.

Relaxations

  • Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in the GSET Exam.
  • Persons with Disability (PWD) are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks.
  • Ex-servicemen are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks.

Application Process

The GSET exam application process is entirely online. To apply for the GSET exam, candidates must first visit the official website of the Gujarat SET: https://www.gujaratset.ac.in/

Step 1: Pay the examination fee

The examination fee for the GSET exam can be paid online using a credit card, debit card, or net banking. The fee for General/OBC candidates is INR 1500, and the fee for SC/ST/PWD candidates is INR 1000.

Step 2: Register online

After paying the examination fee, candidates must register online by clicking on the “Step 2-Register Online for GSET” button on the official website. Candidates will need to create an account and provide their personal information, including their name, date of birth, contact information, and educational qualifications.

Step 3: Upload documents

Candidates must also upload the following documents while filling out the GSET application form:

  • Scanned passport-size photograph
  • Signature
  • Category certificate (if applicable)

Step 4: Submit the application form

Eligibility
