Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
To be eligible for the GSET exam, candidates must have:
- A Master’s degree in the subject of GSET from a UGC-recognized university or institution, with at least 55% marks for General/General-EWS candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST/SEBC-NCL/PH/VH/Transgender candidates.
- Candidates who are appearing in the final year of their Master’s degree examination and waiting for their results are also eligible to apply.
Other Eligibility Criteria
- There is no age limit for appearing in the GSET exam.
- Candidates must be Indian citizens.
- Candidates who have already qualified for UGC NET/UGC-CSIR NET are not eligible to apply for GSET in the same subject.
Relaxations
- Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) for appearing in the GSET Exam.
- Persons with Disability (PWD) are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks.
- Ex-servicemen are eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks.

Application Process
