PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology) is a combination of subjects, that high school students can opt for. If you are about to be done with your boards and wondering what stream you should opt for after Class 10th, consider this article a guide from a PCMB stream student itself . Choosing the right stream is important as it can make or break your future. We know it must be hard to decide your future at such a young age, therefore here are a few points that might help you make the right choice. Here is an article about pros and cons of taking PCMB after class 10th.

It is also used to refer to Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology, a group of subjects that are studied in tandem in some educational institutions. Additionally, the acronym is used to refer to p-Chloromercuribenzoic acid, a chemical compound that is used in certain biochemistry experiments . The CSR (Center for Scientific Review) has recently announced changes to the application deadlines for upcoming October/November 2022 study sections, with the first review dates taking place in February/March 2023.

PCMB stream could be a great choice for students in 10th who love both Mathematics and Biology equally. If you are certain you want to go into the Science field but are unsure whether you should go for Mathematics or Biology, you can go ahead and choose this combination .

UNDERSTAND WHICH SUBJECTS YOU LIKE

Make a list of subjects you like, dislike, and have neutral feelings for. If most of the subjects you like are Science related then you should go for it . I knew that I do not want to study subjects like History, Civics, or Geography. I had no one in my family that could guide me about the Commerce subjects in 10th. Also, I was always interested in how even the little things, our bodies, and technology worked, so I was about sure about PCMB stream.

MAKE SURE YOUR SCHOOL OFFERS THIS SUBJECT

This is not a very popular choice for students who choose Science. Most of the Students go for PCM or PCB with a Language course, Physical Education, or even Computer Science/ Information Technology . So before you choose pcmb stream, check if your school offers it or not because not everyone wants to switch schools.

TAKE THIS COMBINATION IF YOU LIKE BOTH MATHS & BIOLOGY

I have always loved both of these subjects equally. If the same is the case with you, go for it. If you are confused about whether you want to go into the medical field or the tech field. You think that you are equally inclined towards both, then you can choose PCMB too.

IT GETS HECTIC

If you taking tuitions along with full-time school, it is going to get tough to manage your time. You need to follow a very strict timetable to balance time between school and coaching, plus at the same both Maths and Biology are considered to be difficult subjects and would require most of your time .  Take tuitions for either PCM or PCB, as a coaching center that offers to teach all the 4 subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Biology) is rare. You would have to study the 4th subject either on your own or take tuition for it .

PLAN ABOUT YOUR COMPETITIVE EXAMS AHEAD

Managing to study all 4 subjects in School and passing with good grades is one thing, but when it comes to competitive exams like NEET or IIT-JEE, the situation is completely different. These exams special preparation and preparing both of the exams together is not a good choice . Focus on one. Whichever you think is easy, after you have studied Maths & Biology for 2 years, you should be able to decide what you want to pursue later.
