Engineering is a branch of science in which mathematical and scientific principles are applied to solve different technical problems. It is an extremely broad term that applies to many fields like architecture and medicine etc. The engineering course has 6 main branches, each covering multiple specializations. These branches are as follows:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Nuclear Engineering

Other than these main branches, there are many engineering subfields and interdisciplinary engineering fields which include characteristics of all or some of these branches. Engineering programs in India are offered at the undergraduate level (UG) level, postgraduate level (PG) level, and Ph.D. level.

Eligibility Criteria For Entrance Into Different Engineering Courses At The UG Level

Students must have passed 12th class with 60 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Math’s as main subjects from a recognized institute for pursuing an engineering course. JEE Main and JEE Advanced test students have to appear in. Based on marks and ranks secured in these entrance examinations, admissions are given in many government institutes. Some institutes conduct their own entrance examinations too. BITSAT, MHTCET, VITEEE,SRMJEEE are some of them.
At the PG level, GATE is one of the most popular postgraduate engineering entrance exams for admission to M.Tech programs in India.

ENTRANCE EXAM QUESTIONS

1. B.Tech Or B.E. In Mechanical Engineering

Ajaz (43)
Mechanical Engineering is one of the vastest fields of engineering. It deals with the designs and constructions of machines and their parts. A student of mechanical engineering learns about designing automobiles, aircraft, electric motors, and other heavy vehicles. Since in our daily lives we are always surrounded by different machines, the scope of mechanical engineering and also the career opportunities for the students of mechanical engineering are huge.
After B.Tech you can do M.S. in Mechanical Engineering – Advanced study program. This is the best master’s program for students who want to study further in this field. You can become an engineering professional after pursuing this program.

2. B.Tech. Or B.E. In Civil Engineering

Ajaz (44)
Civil Engineering deals with the design and construction of infrastructures like highways, waterways, sewage systems, railroads, buildings, and dams. Students of this field learn how to think with precision and analytically to build safe and functional infrastructure for daily use. There are five types of civil engineering:
  • Construction and Management Engineering
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Transport Engineering
  • Water Engineering
After, completing B.Tech in Civil Engineering you can enroll in the civil engineering master’s program if interested. For obtaining a higher position or engaging yourself in an important project, a master’s in civil engineering is a good choice.

ENTRANCE EXAM QUESTIONS

3. B.Tech Or B.E. In Industrial Engineering

Ajaz (45)
Industrial Engineering concerns with the designing, planning, and optimization of production and manufacturing processes. It combines the best of engineering and business. This field is focused on improving processes or designing things that are more efficient and economical. It is a very popular field with a wide range of opportunities.
The students who want to explore industrial business and engineering management can do master’s in industrial management. M.Sc in Industrial Engineering and Management is one of the best master’s programs. Master of Engineering (Industrial Automation), M.Sc in Maintenance Engineering, Master in Industrial Systems Analytics are some other programs one can pursue in Industrial Engineering.

4. B.Tech. Or B.E. In Electrical Engineering

Ajaz (46)
Electrical Engineering is a field of engineering which deals with the study of the application of electronics, electricity, and electromagnetism. It is divided into many branches like computer engineeringpower engineering, telecommunications, signal processing, systems engineering, instrumentation, and electronics. To study electrical engineering you should have a stronghold on mathematics and physics. It focuses on physics, mechanics, optics, and mathematics. As technology is advancing day by day, the demand for electrical engineers is also growing. The role of electrical energy in our daily life is increasing.
If you want to equip yourself with the skills required to tackle the demands of the power industry, masters of electrical engineering are for you. M.Sc in electrical engineering offers specialization in electro-optics, nano and microelectronics, data science, and information technology.

5. B.Tech. Or B.E. In Chemical Engineering

Ajaz (47)
Chemical Engineering is a branch of engineering that combines technology with chemistry and provides solutions to most environmental problems. A good base in technology management is also essential for studying chemical engineering. This field of engineering involves designing, manufacturing, and operating plants and machinery for carrying out large-scale industrial chemical, biological or related processes and developing new or adapted substances for a wide range of products.
After completing B.E. in chemical engineering, students can enroll themselves in the master’s program. Master in chemical engineering allows the students to develop a greater depth of chemical engineering skills and complete a wider range of project work. With the completion of your masters, you can gain the status of Chartered Chemical Engineer.
