Some things are unforeseen and due to the pandemic we are locked down in our homes and it is no secret that a sudden shift to online classes has left students feeling overwhelmed about their academic performance. Learning from home has its challenges of own but today we have some tips and strategies so that you can successfully transit into the e-Learning world.
1. Treat an Online Class as a Normal Class
Without the regular in-person classes, it is easy to fall into a slump and get behind. To avoid this treat online classes like in-person classes. Wake up on time each day, take shower, get dressed and then go to a class set your routine according to your class, and treat the online class as an actual class. Be dedicated and show up in the class. This is the first and foremost thing to keep in mind.
2. Time Management
Set a schedule and stick with it to keep you structured and in routine. Manage your time carefully set up a schedule. Create a weekly schedule that you will follow, designate different hours each week for different activities like watching lectures, completing assignments, studying. Make a schedule so that you can quickly see how much you have accomplished and how many tasks are remaining. While you are studying try to disconnect from distractions. Make a weekly plan and divide your day into different parts most importantly set time aside for yourself too.
3. Eliminate Distraction
Setup a dedicated learning environment for studying. While setting up your study space make sure you have a good internet connection, have all required books and study materials. Sit near the window to get some natural light and fresh air, have some plants beside you, and have a clean space. Make sure that your environment boosts your productivity. Create a space of peace. Ask your family to not disturb you while you’re studying. It is not a smart idea to study on your bed because eventually you will feel sleepy and your posture will not be good.
4. Participate Actively
No matter how tedious it seems you must stay active and participate in class. Have a keen interest and engage in discussions. By doing so you will not feel sleepy and your mind will be active. The discussion will also make you feel proactive and ask questions in class and clarify your doubts and keep a good ear on what others ask and try to learn from it.
5. Take Notes
Before the start of the lecture keep a book and pen handy. Put updates and titles on your notes so that whenever you want to revisit them you will be able to understand. Stay focused during the lecture and write whatever the professor is saying do not waste your time googling things. If you miss out on something try to reach your professor or your classmates. By taking notes in an ongoing class you will be able to retain information and it will help you study and understand better. Do not make notes scattered to keep a proper book and file. Stay organized.
6. Take Breaks
Information overload happens so it is better to take some short breaks to rejuvenate your mind. You can grab a snack watch something or scroll through your phone or simply go out and take a walk all these activities will help you feel better and fresh. Do not punish yourself go at your pace and enjoy the time you study and do not feel like you’re wasting time while taking a break. Having your thoughts refreshed always helps the brain to think more clearly and directly.
