The Government of Haryana established a non-profit global university, O.P. Jindal Global (Institution of Eminence Deemed To Be University), in 2009. It was started in the memory of O.P. Jindal, father of the Founding Chancellor, Mr Naveen Jindal as the beginning of a benevolent initiative. The university has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has achieved grade ‘A’ of the National Accreditation & Assessment Council (NAAC). It was also granted the esteemed ‘Institution of Eminence’ status by the Government of India.

Jindal Global School is a member of the International Association of Law Schools (IALS), International Development and Public Policy Alliance (IDPA), Law Schools Global League, Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and Association of American Colleges and Universities. It was ranked 751-800 amongst 28,000 universities in the world and was in the global top 150 universities under 50 years of age along with being ranked 400-450 amongst 13,000 universities in Asia. It has also been awarded a DIAMOND university ranking by QS I.GAUGE.

Facilities at Jindal Global School

Coffee Café Day, Nescafe, Juice N More, Fresh Fruit & Juice Shop, Subway, Burger Point, 34 Chowringhee Lane, Street Food by Punjab Grill, Bercos, Moti Mahal, Domino’s Pizza, Breakfast Round the Clock & Keventers are the many food court outlets you can find within the campus. The university has availed the services of Sodexo for catering and housekeeping facilities and providing essential meals to students, faculty and staff.

The university has a highly motivated and dedicated Department of Physical Education that dispenses essential and state-of-the-art facilities in Cricket, Basketball, Football, Badminton (Indoor), Volleyball, Table Tennis, Pool/Snooker, Chess and Carrom and Swimming. This not only encourages the students and staff members to be healthier but also incorporates a competitive and team cohesion spirit in the students.

With separate male and female wards, consultation rooms, physiotherapy treatment rooms, counselling rooms, meditation room and sample collection room, qualified medical practitioners including four doctors, eight nursing staff, two physiotherapists, two student counsellors to provide all the necessary health care services, the university’s health centre is a blessing for all the students. There is also an on-campus pharmacy.

The global library plays an active role in providing the students with essential subject-related and general information. It has about 48000 print volumes and a range of electronic resources. Books, monographs, research reports, law reports, and back volumes of periodicals together make up the professional reading. The library also provides a good amount of leisure reading and books for soft skills development. All subjects taught as a part of the University’s academic and research programmes have been included in the collection. Print resources have been divided into General Collection and Reference Collection. The university is also developing a core collection of media resources encompassing documentaries, training films, fiction, music, etc. Along with this, the university also provides laundry, housekeeping, courier, Bank/ATM and guest-house services to the students and the faculty members.

Student clubs and Societies

The JGU Film Society has screened about 40-50 movies as of now. The Music Society and Debate Society provide a safe space for you to find like-minded people and make connections. The Human Rights Society has introduced Monkey Speak – a free-speech magazine facilitated by students and Bal Adhikar Sabha – a round table conference on child rights to actively promote and safeguard basic human rights. Raqs (JGU Dance Society) has existed as long as the university has and only takes in the best and brightest dancers into the club. Other clubs include SOCH – Documentary Society, JGU Book Club, Gender Studies Group, The Environment Society, Academic Writing Society, Literary and Fine Arts Society, Animal Welfare Society, JGU Sports Society, JGU Theatre Society, Dance Society, Make India Bold, etc.
