- Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.

For Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and for 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
- Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards set by the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination.
- Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply.
