About
GMAT stands for “Graduate Management Admission Test.” It’s a three-hour test that’s designed to test graduate schools’ ability to understand and use math concepts. The test includes four sections: quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, analytical writing, and integrated reasoning. In quantitative reasoning, students are tested on their ability to use math concepts like arithmetic, algebras, geometries, and sufficiency. Verbal reasoning tests how well students understand complex text. Analytical writing tests how well students think critically and how well they communicate their ideas. Integration reasoning tests students’ ability to use different sources of information to analyze data and solve problems.

The GMAT is graded on a range of 200 to 800, with 500 representing the average. Your percentile rank will also be reported, indicating how you performed in comparison to other test takers. Many top business schools throughout the world demand the GMAT for admission. However, a few schools, including the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and the Yale School of Management, do not require the GMAT. If you are thinking about applying to business school, you should look into the GMAT requirements of the schools you are considering. You can also take a practice GMAT to determine your skills and weaknesses and to design your study strategy.
