Rani Durgavathi Vishwavidyala (RDVV), is a state-run public higher education institution located at Jabalpur, in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, established in 1957. It provides undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education in a wide range of fields, including Science, Engineering, Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The main campus of the RDVV is located in Jabalpur with 24 affiliated colleges in the state. The main campus covers 1,000 acres of land and houses various facilities, such as Classrooms, Laboratories, Libraries, Hostels, and Sports Complexs. The RDVV is a member of NAAC and a member of AIU. It is one of the Top Universities in Madhya Pradesh according to various ranking agencies. According to the 2023 National Institute of Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), the RDVV ranked 8th among the universities in the state.
The university was first set up on 12 June 1956, under the law of Jabalpur University, 1956 (Law No. 22, 1956), with jurisdiction over the revenue district of Jabalpur. In 1961, the university moved to its present location, located at Saraswati Vihar (Pachpedi), Jabalpur. On 7 June 1983, the university was re-formed under law No. 23, by which the name of the university was changed to ‘Rani Durga Vashwantavidyalaya’, in honour of the famous Gond Queen, Rani Durga, who was also known as the ‘Gond Queen’. In 1973, the university was again re-formed under the law of M.P. Vishwavidaya Adhiniyaam, 1973, and was given jurisdiction over the revenue districts of Jabalpur (Jabalpur), Mandla (Narsinghpur), Katni and Dindori.

Entrance exam
The RDVV conducts an entrance examination for admission to the undergraduate program and postgraduate program. The MCQ (multiple choice questions) exam is a general knowledge test, aptitude test, and subject specific knowledge test. Eligibility criteria vary from one program to another. In the case of undergraduate programs, candidates have to have passed 12th examination at least 50% in the subject. In the case of postgraduate program, candidates need to have completed their Bachelors degree at least 50% mark in the subject. Applicants can apply online on the official website of RDVV. Application fee for general candidates is Rs.1,000 and for SC/ ST candidates is Rs.500. The exam is held every year in the month of April and May. The results are announced on the official website. The RDVV conducts supplementary exams for those who have failed one or several subjects in their regular exams. These exams are held every month. The exams are conducted according to the same format as regular exams, the questions are of similar difficulty, and the exam duration is the same.
