Introduction to SSC Stenographer Exam

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Stenographer exam to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ in various government offices and departments. The selection process includes a written examination followed by a skill test in stenography.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern

The SSC Stenographer exam consists of two stages:

Computer-Based Examination (CBE):

    • The CBE is an online test consisting of multiple-choice questions.
    • The exam is divided into three sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension.
    • Each section carries equal marks, with a total duration of two hours.
    • There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

Skill Test in Stenography:

    • Candidates who qualify in the CBE are eligible for the skill test.
    • For Stenographer Grade ‘C,’ the dictation speed is 100 words per minute, and the transcription time is 50 minutes (English) and 65 minutes (Hindi).
