Chakdaha College, one of the oldest and most reputed Higher Education institutions, affiliated to the University of Kalyani, Nadia, was established as a Pre-University college in 1972 (continued till 1977), under the pioneering initiative of the-then Deputy Speaker of West Bengal Assembly, Hon’ble Haridas Mitra and inaugurated by the-then Chief Minister of West Bengal, Hon’ble Siddhartha Shankar Roy in 1975, the College started its journey in its new campus, i.e., the present one, with 5/6 avowed faculties, mostly temporary, with the exception of the permanent Principal, only 1 permanent office-staff, 98 pupils and above all, with the blessing of the localites as the desire for such a centre of academics had been nursed for decades. Chakdaha College is a trend-setter in imparting quality-education to the target-learners, creating a student-friendly atmosphere and ensuring a unique co-ordination among Principal, Teaching and Non-teaching members and students. Students’ performance in University examinations, their participation in athletic and cultural activities in different levels is consistent and commendable.

1.Chakdaha College
Chakdaha College, established on November 21, 1972, is located in a serene and tranquil setting in suburban Bengal. It was one of the earliest colleges to be affiliated with the University of Kalyani. The college owes its development and establishment to the valuable contributions of Sri Haridas Mitra, the then deputy-speaker of West Bengal, to whom it expresses gratitude.
Currently, Chakdaha College offers fourteen Honours Courses along with a diverse range of subjects in its General courses. The local community’s involvement during the formative stages was remarkable and commendable.
Over the years, Chakdaha College has earned a reputation for maintaining strict discipline, punctuality, and sincerity. 3.Chakdaha College Admission 2023-24
Chakdaha College offers degree courses at the UG level including B. A, B.Sc. and B.Com under different subject specializations. The duration of degree courses is three years and offered as General, Major and Honor’s degree. In Chakdaha College Candidates are shortlisted based on the merit as per the marks secured at 10+2 examination level. The admission criteria and eligibility are as per the rules of the University of Kalyani, West Bengal.Candidates are eligible and admitted, if passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General or Vocational Stream conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent examination conducted by State/ Board / Council, or Rabindra Mukta Vidyalaya, or National Open School recognized by the Distant Learning Council.

Visit the college website and click on the ‘Apply Now’ button.
- Fill up the application form and solve the mathematical answer provided, then proceed to sign up.
- An SMS from the college will be sent to you, containing the Application Number. Save this number for future reference.
- Continue to fill up the Application Form with the necessary details.
- Choose the degree and courses you are interested in. You can select a maximum of 8 courses in a single form.
- Save the form and upload a recent passport-size photograph.
- Submit the completed application form.
- Make the required payment for the application fees in online mode only. The application fee for each course is INR 20.
- After successful submission and payment, you can print the Application Form for your records.

Sports Quota:
- A separate form is available for candidates who want to apply under the Sports Quota.
- Students admitted under this quota will be exempted from paying the regular fees.
- To be eligible, candidates must have actively participated in Inter-University Sports and Games for at least two years.
- Additionally, candidates should have taken part in events like Inter-District School/State Inter-School/State-Junior/Open Inter-District Tournament/State Open Championship/Calcutta First Division Championship.
- For B.A./B.Sc./B.Com Honours degree courses, one seat in each honours subject is reserved under the Sports Quota.
Scholarship Process
- The teachers provide stipend to poor and meritorious students.
- Government of India provides scholarships to reserved category candidates.
- Reserved category candidates are also given monthly stipend on the basis of merit and attendance.
- Students are given financial assistance through Student’s Aid Fund yearly. The selection is done on the basis of Merit, Attendance and Financial Status.
