Distribution of Marks in GATE exam: There are total 65 questions in the GATE examination. The maximum marks to be obtained are 100. There is no exact distribution of marks for each particular subject. The Engineering mathematics & general aptitude have the 15% weightage each which is the highest. It means that engineering mathematics will carry a total of 15 marks and General Aptitude questions will carry a total of 15 marks. The remaining 70% marks are from your respective engineering subjects (the subject you choose while filling up the form). Negative marking scheme in GATE examination: No negative marking for the Numerical answer type questions So, you can attempt all these questions and from other sections 1/3 marks will be deducted for 1 mark questions, 2/3 marks will be deducted for 2 mark questions.
Qualifying marks for GATE examination: The qualifying marks can change from year to year. It depends on the average of the total marks obtained by all the candidates appearing in the GATE examination.
