The UGC NET is one of the option which will allow you to be a lab assistant. UGC NET is a national level exam, which is held for the lectureship in the universities, to pursue the PhD and for JRF awards. The candidates who qualify the NET Exams are eligible to opt one of following options: become assistant professor in colleges get scholarships and fellowships Be a scientist and research associates get a job in PSUs become an author or publish articles

UGC NET Exam is organized to determine candidates for Lectureship, for junior research fellowship awards and to pursue PhD. The eligibility to apply for NET Exam is as follows: Educational Qualification: Post Graduation degree from recognized university with more than 55% marks. Age: max 30 years for NET JR. After B.Sc. in Biology you can go for Masters' degree. After that if you have interest to do research in biology or want to become professor of biology then you can appear for CSIR NET Life Sciences. CSIR conducts the NET exam on behalf of UGC to examine the knowledge of candidates to holding of the positions of professor/lecturer/researcher. You have to atleast 55% aggregate percent in post graduation to apply for CSIR NET if you are from general/OBC category or if you come from SC/ST/PwD category then you must have minimum 50% aggregate marks.

There is no mandatory age limit for CSIR NET Exam but to clear JRF you need to be age limit up-to 28 years.
