ctually I want to do psychology honours as i find it as a very interesting subject although I didn't have psychology as my subject in 12. I have planned to do psychology honours from jamia university and then post graduation in fashion management from Du. Ultimately in life I want to be a fashion firm entrepreneur but not a designer. And I think psychology honours is a good course for me because I'm not sure that will I be able to achieve my dream to become a fashion firm entrepreneur and in that case my graduation degree will be helpful to me. I'm really confused. Just want to know that am I on the right path or not.

Dear Aspirant,

I would like to thank you very much for writing to us again and that too before deciding and finalising.

After Commerce, you wish to do Psychology and to create a backup you are going to do a PG in Fashion Management?????????????? THIS IS RISKY and WEIRD. I do not find any logic behind this planning of yours. Please remember that just based on your graduation degree there are very less chances that you will get a good and paying job and that too as a BA in Psychology.

Thinking that a course is good does not mean that it is good for you too. You have to assess which is best for you. Surely you are confused and you are choosing un-understandable paths.

WHY are you not taking the Ideal Career Test, which is an online psychometric test from CareerGuide which will help you understand yourself in respect of your interests, likings, strengths, weaknesses, emotional quotient, etc. and which will exactly tell you which career is ideal for you?????
The test can make things very clear and clear the confusion in your as well as our minds.

You can then call me to discuss.

Best wishes!

Hello Priyat,

The question that arises in my mind after reading your query is, How come you find Psychology interesting, if you have not even studied Psychology basic".

Just after a canteen discussion amongst friends, if you are taking a decision to study Psychology, then definitely it is not a correct choice.

Also if you are studying Psychology as a backup course, again it is not a relevant choice.

Firstly a backup course is something which gives you a choice in life and is directly related to what was the first course you do.

Psychology and Fashion have no link at all. So psychology being a backup if you are not successful as a Fashion Entrepreneur does not sound good.

Secondly, just a Graduation in Psychology, will definitely not help you to work as a Psychologists or a Counselor. For that a masters degree is necessary.

Thirdly, pursuing a masters degree, means majoring or getting deeper into a subject, whereby you masters the subject, know all the basics of a subject. Here I do not understand, how a masters in fashion will help you after a Graduation in Psychology.

Rather cutting the long story short, my advice to you would be to, study fashion management or Fashion designing in your Graduation. This will give you the basic idea about trends, materials and other fashion aspects. Then you can easily opt for a masters program.
As an entrepreneur, you need to have in-depth knowledge pertaining to the business you wish to begin with. In your case it is fashion.
Even if you wish to open up a Fashion retail outlet, while dealing with merchandisers and customers, you need to have full knowledge related to the fabric, stitching, colour and other finer details.

Hope this helps you make a choice.

Wish you good luck....
