Every organization whether big time or a small time firm, requires a corporate lawyer.,
Whether they are into FMCG or Automobiles or media or education business, for them to strike a deal, negotiate, save on taxes, save their assets etc need to hire a Corporate lawyer.
Many experienced Corporate lawyer work as a consultant, mainly for small firms who may not be able to hire a full time lawyer.

'Corporate Lawyer', the word itself very much self explanatory that Lawyers who belongs to the corporate world or who practice in corporate laws are the ones known as Corporate Lawyer.
Corporate Lawyers are not different from any other lawyers, because you do need any special degree or licence to be a corporate lawyer.
Coming to your question, legal complications and legal formalities are the first step of any organization, be it a small Company or be it a big, giant, huge Corporation or a Group of companies or an organization. Not everybody has these expertise to deal with these legal formalities and for that reason only they hire a Lawyer who is experienced in this corporate practice and who is an expert in corporate practice.
In today's time the corporate lawyers are mainly involved in Mergers and Acquisitions and Due Diligence Practices and Corporate Compliance.
Frankly speaking if you are a part of any Law Firm who has been appointed as a Legal Representative of any of the organization and who takes care of all the legal formalities of those companies then there is nothing to worry for a lawyer who is a part of Law Firm, the real trouble some question is when you are not a part of any Law Firm and you have been appointed as a Legal Representative of any of the organization, because in that case you are the only one who will be handling all the legalities.
In short very few companies are there in India who appoint an Individual Lawyer for their Corporate Legal Practice, most of the Organizations who are big, they appoint direct Law Firm as their Legal Representative and the lawyers who are working under that firm will work based on their expertise for that particular organization.
