For an IIT candidate, I would suggest you to go for your M.Tech./MS from abroad if possible, preferably from Germany, France Or US.
Once you do it from there, it becomes easy to enroll for Ph. D. there.
Once you a doctorate, come back to India and join any automobile company for their R&D wing and earn like hell.
One of my friend works at Mercedes in its R&D wing at Bengaluru and travels between India and US twice a month. Can you imagine!!!
