Hello

Good to see you have identified commerce as your interest already. To go for a career related to commerce, you should choose to study commerce at HSC level, that is at 11th and 12th level. You can either enrol in a commerce group that offers a package of subjects that will lead you to a commerce career in future, or choose to pick subjects related to commerce if you are in an international syllabus and are required to choose your favourite subjects. Therefore you should to study Commerce, Business maths, accountancy, Economics as part of HSC level education.

A commerce career will require you to study the following options.
1. BCom general
This degree is a generalist degree that offers in depth Commerce knowledge but most often comes with a specialisation in business subject. Completing this degree you can work as a commerce analyst, business analyst, HR Analyst, Operations analyst or even a marketing analyst only if your syllabus has included such business elements in your degree level. Students with business specialisations often are directed to business jobs in future.

2. Bcom with banking
This degree leads to a career in banking sector as, as a part of this degree you will understand bank job roles, its functions and importance. Students focusing on bank carees are suitable to study this.

3. Bcom with accounts as major

5. BCom with computer applications
If you have interest in both computer science and commerce, then you are suited to study this combination subject. This will ideally give you careers in ecommerce. With computer applications knowledge you can apply commerce technics in real business.

Very few colleges in India offers this degree and the competition is also very high. This prepares students for a CA position right from year one and therefore it is for only those who are interested in becoming chartered auditors are suitable to study this degree.

Hello My Dear Career Aspirant,

Commerce is itself a big and excellent line to be in. Commerce field is of business and management and all the subjects in commerce stream are related to these two.

Not being able to decide what to do for a career is the most common concern we counsellors come across. I would like to tell you that such kind of confusion is common and understandable and you need not worry since its not a new phenomena or an odd thing. I am glad that you decided to approach CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance to your career concern which is very genuine.

Commerce field:

Commerce field is an exciting field and I can definitely tell you since I belong to that field too for so many years now. In commerce there are many lines which you can decide. There are professional courses, traditional courses and vocational courses.

In professional courses you have Chartered Accountancy, Company Secretaryship, Cost Accountancy, Chartered Financial Analyst. These are professional courses which can be joined after your 12th (HSC) in commerce or after completion of your commerce graduation.

In traditional courses, you can continue with BCom or after 112th (HSC), you can change to BBA or BBM or BMM or BMS or BCA courses. These are courses different that typical commerce graduation. After graduating with any of these, you can go for MBA course, or MCA course.

Choosing the exact line of career does not happen in one night and there fore it requires plenty of thinking and systematic approach.

I would really like to suggest you to undergo the Idea Career Assessement Psychometric Test available at CareerGuide.com. I would like to tell you that you should choose your career based on your strengths, weaknesses, passion areas, interests, likings, abilities, capabilities, personality, etc. This test will actually tell you based on the above aspects which career will be best suited to you in commerce field.

Commerce is a very vast field and there are very niche and minute specialisations available which can make you a niche professional and there are also general specialisations which can make you a general professional. Its very important to choose them very cautiously and with a thorough study.

I hope you will consider this.

All the Best!
