Hello. So as to say developing ones career is rather simple but it is made complicated unnecessarily. Career can be developed basically by knowing yourself and your strengths, weakness, threats and opportunities. This is called as SWOT analysis. Career is a big word actually and I would suggest you to concentrate on a small goal to start with. Smaller goal may be in the form of which course to choose, when to do it, etc. Since you have not spoken about that you are doing currently or whether you are doing a job or wanting to do a job or wanting to do some course, telling you what you can do exactly seems difficult. However as already said earlier, you need to assess, think and devote some calm time for yourself in which you will have to think what is your passion, what is your liking like which subjects you like etc and then you can surely decide which course to take up and make a career in that particular field. Always remember, that for being successful in your career, you need to have passion, dedication, determination and readiness to work hard to accomplish your career goal which you have set after assessing yourself

Hello

Career counselling is vast and the counselling varies upon the stage and qualification you are in your career. For example the counselling gets different for school goers, college students, graduates, further study aspirants and finally experienced candidates. So developing oneself in career requires in-depth analysis of ones strength, weakness, interests and resources. No matter at what stage of your life you are in, you can always sketch your career plans by listing out the above parameters.

Ideally when I was at school, we had a career counsellor, who was extremely supportive in sketching my career graph. She asked me to take a paper and pen and write the following.
1. My favourite subject - I listed out my favourite subjects that I liked until 12th level.
2. What can you do with your favourite subject - She then she asked me what all I could do with this favourite subject. I mentioned Biology as my favourite subject. So I listed all the degrees that I could do with the Biology subject.
3. Strengths - Then she asked me what are my strengths. I mentioned drawing and Maths as my next strength after Biology. So this way if we want to study both biology and maths at a degree level, then studying an Engineering discipline related to Biology was desirable. this is why I chose to do BTech Industrial biotechnology where I can use both Biology and Maths at a degree level. As a biotech student, I also had lots of opportunities to draw diagrams as part of my coursework.
4. Weakness - I was weak at computer science, so I ignored biology degrees that involves some computer science too. This way I dint chose to study BTech Bioinformatics degree as it has biology and computer science in it.
5. Interests - After the degree, you can develop from what you have in hand. This time you can plan for either studying further or doing a job. If you are interested in work, then you need to figure out where you want to work, and what type of work you want to do. you should always imagine or visualise the type of work you will want to do in future and when you visualise you will feel and understand if you are comfortable doing it or not.

Finally follow the above steps and you will never step into a wrong path. the reason is because, at each and every step you are analysing your abilities and are constructing your career graph accordingly. As you are making your career that best fits your personality, you will be able to achieve and develop further in your career and at no cost you will go into a wrong path. Hope this helps. Good luck.
