It woulod all depend on your area of interest.
Both a re a masters degree and can be beneficial in the long run. Personally I feel pursuing an MA in English literature opens up many avenues for you right from working as an editor in a publishing house to becoming a writer.
If you wish to become a lecturer in a college, then an M.Ed is essential, but for that again masters degree would be needed. So pursuing an MA is beneficial in the long run, in-case later you decide to join a college.

Dear friend, After B.ed, M.ed is logically a right choice if you have plans for working in an education college and you may pursue MA English if there is subject combination of English with another subject in B.ed as it may help you get a government job easily. If you are already a B.Ed. qualified candidate, choosing whether to go for another course or go to M.Ed is a dicy situation.
Doing MA English is definitely good since apart from teaching there are many more job opportunities available.
IF you are wanting to go for teaching as a career, then M.Ed is good. However having a strong domain subject expertise and mastery is very essential.
Therefore I would suggest that you should go for MA English and then based on MA and B.Ed too you can get into teaching career easily. Later on your can do M.Ed or a PhD in English.
