Please note struggle is a part and parcel in evvery field you could think of. Nothing new in the field of psychology. But in psychology the struggle is a little more adernt because it deals with the mental wellbeing of an individual. And mind is not an easy thing to deal with. Thus as a counselor one needs to have a lot of patience, empathy, listening capacity and most importantly must have good control over self.
As such just knowing therapy and assessments is not the only requirement. If possible get certified in other areas like hypnosis, play therapy, NLP, meditation, special education or remedial etc. So that everything is available under one roof.
As far as scope is concerned, counseling is gaining popularity outside clinics and hospitals thanks to the wide spread awareness about all the mental issues and well being. Hence a counselor will find opportunities in areas like sports, wellness and fitness centres, schools and colleges as well as corporates.
Please note that just a graduate degree would not help you function as a counselor. A masters degree is a must whereby you could specialise in any of the areas like clinical, counseling, industrial, social, guidance and counseling etc
