If you are really keen to pursue automobile engineering after passing 12th( commerce) , you can do so by pursuing Diploma in Automobile Engineering . Its a 3 years course . On completion of Diploma, you can take admission in B.Tech Autombile Engineering through lateral entry scheme , which means you will be admitted directly into 2nd year of B.Tech Automobile Engineering after completion of Diploma. To get admission in Diploma , you have to sit for an entrance examination ( JET) - Joing Entrance Test. Every state has a Govt Polytechnic which offers Diploma in Automobile Engineering.




But it is strongly recommended that you get your psychometric assessment to make an informed career decision. Psychometric assessment will help you in knowing yourself beteer in terms of aptitude, interests, and personality. As every profession requires apartcular set of personality traits and work values, psychometric assessment will really be an aid.

Hi The Indian Automobile Industry is going through a phase of rapid change and high growth. With the new projects coming up on regular basis, the industry is undergoing technological change. The major players are expanding their plants and focusing on [mass customization, mass production Investment in Auto Sector: Nearly every automobile company is investing at higher rate than ever before to achieve high growth trajectory. The overall investment in the sector has been increasing quite rapidly. It is expected that by the end of 2015 Indian Automobile Sector will be investing a huge amount as Rs. 35,000 crores.



Growth in the Sector:
At present the industry is enjoying a growth rate of 14-17% per annum, with domestic sales growth at 12.8%. The growth rate is predicted to double by 2015.

As it is seen, the total sales of passenger vehicle cars, utility vehicles, multi-utility vehicles in the year has increased in such a way that they have overtake Germany and Japan in Sales Volumes.

Financing schemes have become an important factor in the growth of automobile sales. More and more financial schemes are coming up with easy installment patterns to lure the customers.

apart from the domestic production, the industry is consistently focusing on the automobile exports. The auto component segment is contrbuting a lot in the export arena. The liberalized policies of the government are now making the companies go for more and moe exports.


Investment is leading to the employment growth in the sector. With the emenrgence of new projects and introduction of technological advancements, the focus is more on the skilled and experienced human resource. The companies are looking for skilled and hadworking people who can give their best to the organization.

The engineers in the Automotive or Electrical or Mechanical field are in demand. Some of the firms going for automation, i.e. planning for CAD (Computer Aided Design) systems, are also recruiting people with IT specializations.



As you are studying in 12th standard (Commerce), and wanted to pursue Automobile Engineering. You can have following options:

1. Course: Diploma in Automobile Engineering
Eligibility: SSC Passed with Math,s Science and English

2. Course: BE in Automobile Engineering
Eligibility: Must have scored atleast 45% in +2 exams along with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (Even though you have opted for Maths , but due to other subjects its not possible)

So it will be advised to go ahead with 3 Years Diploma in Automobile Engineering to go ahead with your studies and you can achieve your dream of becoming " Automobile Engineer".

Dear Aspirant,

I would recommend you to choose your career option very cautiously and carefully.

If you want to do degree in Automobile Engineering, then you cannot enter based on Commerce 12th background. You then need to go for Diploma which is based on your 10th science and maths marks.

To be best sure of what suits you for your career, I would suggest you to undergo an online psychometric test from CareerGuide which will help you understand yourself in respect of your strengths, weaknesses, emotional quotient, etc. and will exactly tell you which career is ideal for you.
You can then call counsellors to discuss.

As you choose maths in your commerce.To study automobile engg.you need to have physics also.So i tell you that you better choose B

.com or BCA computer application.
