Dear Avika,
Vocational education is sometimes referred to as technical education, in which the learner develops expertise in some techniques which are based on manual or practical activities related to a specific trade.
It can be both at the secondary or post secondary level. It is provided both as full-time as well as part-time basis.
It is generally offered at +2 level as vocational higher secondary school education, ITI, polytechnic, etc
Commerce & Business, Agriculture, Automobile, Air conditioning, Live stock management, Lab Technician, Healthcare, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism, BFSI, HR & Sales, Dialysis Technology etc. are some prominent courses.
There is also separate vocational training program for women.
The ministry of HRD has started courses as B.Voc as under graduate programs in regular degree colleges.
Vocational courses definitely makes one employable and with skill India the scope of vocational/technical is very high.
