Hello there,

9 years experience is a vast experience and there is no second thought about it.

Now moving to another sector would mean loosing all what you know and beginning from scratch. Your experience of 9 years would be completely nullified.

In terms of progress a vertical shift is beneficial than horizontal one. Best would be to search for a position vertically, one level above rather than shifting to another sector completely new.

Depending on the need of the position opt for a course. You would be the best judge.

Probably an MBA  or any other course would be helpful

According to me shifting to another sector completely new is not a viable option at this point of time.

Hope this helps.

Wish you good luck...

Dear Aspirant,

Nine years of experience is a very handsome and valuable experience I would say. Why are you thinking of changing the sector altogether when you have acquired a sizeable years of experience which can help you climb the management levels in organisations. Experience is what matters and is what will give you returns.

Going to another sector without any background will be like working like a fresher. Would you afford to do that? Also you current salary will not remain the same when you change sector. Is this fine for you? You will be required to learn everything new. Are you ready for this? You will take much more years to grow more. Is this is fine for you? Your nine years experience will go waste. Are you ready to leave that?

If the answer to the above questions is no, then better continue in the same sector and domain.

You can add value to your current domain, by doing an Executive MBA or Distance Learning MBA from a reputed Institute. This may help you climb the management cadre.

Best wishes
