Every profession requires a particular set of personality traits and aptitude. To excel in this pofession you should be creative, have good analytical and mathematic ability , good with drawing and sketching, proficent in geometrical modelling. You should have keen interest to update knowledge of latest development in structural techniques and materials, ability to delegate tasks to teamzsbility to sketch free hand is beneficial while explaning the minute details of structure to the client. You need to have excellent imagination and visualization. One should also possess adequate knowledge about physical environment and urban planning. Excellent communication skills , hard work physical agility and stamina to work on site as well as on desk, long concentration span, flexibility , responsivbility and accountability are also required.


The course duration of Bachelor of Architecture programme is five years. The minimum academic requirement to apply for admission to bachelor of architectyre coouyrse is completion of 12th with maths. Admnission to architectyre course is on the basis of aptitude test which evaluates an aspirant aptitude for drawing, sketching , visualization and related skills . Some of the major entrance examination of seeking admission to bachelor of architecture course is NATA ( National Aptitude Test in Archutecture). It is a national level aptitude test for seeking admission in architecture course. It is offered as a paper based plus compyter based test. The paper based test is drawing test of 120 minutes and the 60 minutes computer based online tst measures aesthetic sensitivity . Scores of NATA are used for shortlisting applicants for architecture programmes at many universities . NATA can be given at designated centres across the country. This year the NATA could be given any day from March 20,2013.It is advised that keep checking the various updates related to aptitude test dates from time to time in ayear you are keen to sit for test. Other entrance examinations are JEE Main/ Advanced.

Architectsare the real creators of amazing buildings and structures. Skycrappers in metro cities would not have been possible without them. While capitalism futhers the growth and prosperity of human race, tall buildings with beuatiful designs and glory show the grandeur. The rebuilding of the 'Twin Towers' collapsed in 9/11 incident and other towers and structures shows the real dint of human talent and excellence, creativity and vision.


Required Skills:
A person requires sound communication skills and immense physical stamina to get into the profession of architecture. He is expected to work on a desk as well as on the construction site. Excelent memory and sound concentration level, flexibility, patience, team spirit, responsibility, and accountability, etc. are some common personality traits which are essential for professional success in architecture and design. But it is right credentials in academices which matters most in architecture.


Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at 10+2 level can only apply for admmission to study architecture at the graduate level.

Various colleges offer undergraduate course in B.Arch which lasts for 5 Years. The selection is done through an entrance exam conducted by the Council of Architecture throughout India.

On the other hand engineering colleges select students on the basis of the result to the appropriate engineering courses. Similarly, some private colleges offering courses in architecture have their own criteria which are based on +2 marks of the students. Students interested to further their knowledge in architecture can pursue post graduation in architecture for 2 years.


What would i cost me?
Various private and government colleges and universities in India offer B.Arch course which lasts for 4 years. The fee of the course depends a lot upon the reputation of the institute or the aid from the government. Similarly, the fee structure varies for Degree and Diploma Courses. The government aided institute or college charge nominal fees to students, which can be any amount in the range of 1,60,000 to2,30,000, while in private institute, students are asked a hefty fee between 2,00,000 to 3,50,000. The fees does not include expense incurred in the form of hostel charges, library fees, etc.

Candidates who could not make out to degree level education in Architecture colleges may opt for a Diploma Course where in they may be asked to pay any fees in the range of 1,30,000 to 2,00,000.
