Carpentry is also good field and one can earn decent income provided a person is skillful. Carpentry courses mainly focus on how to build and maintain a wide range of structures from wooden materials. There are various specializations within carpentry such as:Residential carpentry:create the framework for homesFinish carpenters: complete detailed work such as stairs and flooringInterior systems carpenters: install factory-made materials and productsFloor layer carpenters: specialize in hardwood flooring and carpeting.
One need to know all specializations to build career in carpentry. For career in carpentry, there is no specific qualification required but candidate with certificate course and graduate degree would get more chances to get job in carpentry companies or can efficiently run carpentry business or workshop or work as a sub-contractor.
There is no bachelor course in carpentry as of now. However, UGC has planned to start Bachelor of Vocational Course (BVoc) in Plumbing and Carpentry. This is three years degree course. The list of institutions are not yet released by UGC. BVoc is equivalent to BA/BCom/Bsc. Soon various Universities/colleges will offer graduate courses in this discipline.
