Plastic has become an integral part of electronic , electric, automobile and telecommunication industries. The plastic industry makes products for industrial and domestic use and is also involved in molding , laminating and finishing products. Plastic is playing a crucial role in our day to day life in all significant areas such as packaging, transportation, communication , sports, entertainment and medical devices. The rubber industry produces tyres, footwear and many other products. To be successful in this profession one should have scientific bent of mind, mechanical aptitude, inquisitive nature and excellent observation. Bachelor's ands master's degree programmeare there in plastic technology , polymer science and rubber technology. Admission to bachelor's degree courses are open to students who have completed 12th with physics, chemistry and math. The admission is on the basis of an entrance test i.e JEE-main. Master;s degree would require the relevant bachelor's degree and GATE score . MTech polymer programmes are offered to students with a bachelor's degree in chemical/ polymer science/plastic technology or master's degree with technical chemistry, applied chemistry or analytical chemistry.
