I understand you are asking about various roles one can pursue with a degree in Marketing management. To get a degree in Marketing sector, it is essential for one to have an MBA degree with marketing element. The ideal candidate for marketing could be either a fresher or an experienced candidate. But here, I am focusing on roles a fresh marketing management graduate could expect.

Please look at the picture below. As already said a fresh marketing management graduate could possibly expect upto ten variety of caeers in marketing. To say a little about each type of career,

Advertising: It is a type of business that involves effective communication to market the products, ideally aiming to target, attract/inspire and persuade them to buy the company's products. Advertising analyst would know what types of marketing words will be effective to target and persuade customers to buy their products.

Pricing: Marketing management freshers could be offered positions as a Pricing Analyst. these analyst get involved to understand the profit and loss percentage in fixing up the costs of their company's products. They also analyse competitor's price to fix their own products price. You have variety of roles available in banking, FMCG, airline, manufacturing industries or any consumer industries in general.
Market research/ Market Analyst: These analyst get involved in gathering information regarding potential market and customers for every industry. FMCG companies also out source their market research work to research companies to help them understand their market and customers. These market research companies study the sector and its associated customers and produce the report on possible recommendations to the companies.

Research and development:This sector aims to understand why certain products fail in market and what sort of products should be created in future to achieve market success.

Sales: As a sales person, the candidate is expected to identify potential market and customers where their company's product could easily pitch in. The sales person is expected to persuade and negotiate with the dealings to sell their companies products.

Public relations: This again uses communication as the key to spread info of the company between individual and the public.

Events management: This describes any event organised by the company to market its products. Companies largely use event management as their marketing tool to do promotional activities for their upcoming products.

Distribution: It is one of the techniques of marketing to make sure the company's products are effectively distributed across the aimed sectors.

Packaging: It involves effective packaging to make sure customers receive undamaged products. Recently, packaging is also considered as one of the strategic marketing tool as attractive packaging can also impress and persuade certain customers in buying the product. Example, beauty products.

Production: Here the goods are produced only with the availability of raw materials proportional to customers requirements. Production managers ensure enough goods are produced as per the sales target and not excessive goods are produced that may go unsold.

I hope the above briefing helps you to some extent. All the best.

Dear Aspirant,

Market Research / Market Analyst is an area where only Marketing degree or knowledge will not help.

Market Research is a research field and majorly MBA Finance or Business Analysis candidates are preferred for such roles and not just with MBA Marketing.

Digital Marketing, Rural Marketing are some upcoming areas where there is tremendous amount of work.

Best wishes
