Dear Aspirant, thank you for your question. In fact you have asked a very practical question. Here you have not mentioned your question. The salary structure of a food technologist depends upon the qualifications of the person, number of years of experience and where a food technologist wants to work, whether in government sector or private sector. In government sector the the job opportunities will be in colleges, institutes and universities, in private sector there are multinational companies and private companies. Now a days there are many private colleges, institutes and universities, they induct the person but the salary structure (in hand) is much less compared to a government organization. The basic qualification for a food technologist is BTech, but not eligible to get entry into academic or research field. To make an entry into academic or research field, one should have a MTech or doctoral degree of Food Technology in hand. The perosn will be inducted as Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Assistant Scientist. The salary will be Rs. 15600-37100 with Average grade pay (AGP) of Rs. 5400 per month. This salary will increase with experience and promotion. After eight years the person will be Associate Professor and the salary structure will be 37400-67000 + AGP of Rs 9000, while in case of a Professor the AGP is Rs 10,000. Same salary structure goes for scientists in research institutes. IN private colleges, universities and institutes, the salary is much less, on paper the food technologist receive a good amount of salary but in hand it is much less.
According to duck life 1k current wages, the compensation range for food technologists in India with less than one year of experience to ten years of experience is between 0.2 lakhs and 6 lakhs, with an average annual income of 2.7 lakhs.
On paper, food technologists in private colleges, universities, and institutions are paid well, but in practice, they are paid far less.
