The basic qualification for a food technologist is BTech, but not eligible to get entry into academic or research field. To make an entry into academic or research field, one should have a MTech or doctoral degree of Food Technology in hand. The perosn will be inducted as Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Assistant Scientist. The salary will be Rs. 15600-37100 with Average grade pay (AGP) of Rs. 5400 per month. This salary will increase with experience and promotion. After eight years the person will be Associate Professor and the salary structure will be 37400-67000 + AGP of Rs 9000, while in case of a Professor the AGP is Rs 10,000. Same salary structure goes for scientists in research institutes. IN private colleges, universities and institutes, the salary is much less, on paper the food technologist receive a good amount of salary but in hand it is much less.
