Hello Vikram,
A warm welcome to CareerGuide.com
As discussed in the earlier answers with you i hope you have been getting the proper information about the leather industry with regards to it career prospects, scope, demand and from where to pursue the course.
This again one of the interesting question that you have bought here.
After completing a 12th std. from any of the stream one can go for Leather industry as career option whereas they can either choose Leather Designing or Technology as per their liking. On successful completion of Under Graduate program one can further opt for Post Graduation course.
A student having a degree in Leather Technology or Designing gets a package of around 3/4 lakh per annum.Further after gaining an work experience of 2/3 years one gets an package of around 5-6 Lakhs per annum.
The major drawback of the leather industry is that it is operated by the labours which leads to consume a lot of time and money in manufacturing. The Big companies working in leather industry try to overcome such issues and try to increase the production. In such companies students who have completed their Degree in Leather Technology or Designing along with Management degree have the first preference and are likely to be hired first offered a good pay package to the candidates. But such employability is available only for 15-20 % people.
So having a management degree will be helpful . Thought the employment is less currently but in near future it will have a scope and will be helpful for you. Whereas you can also just go with the degree in leather technology or design; it will just make a difference with regards to the payment package.
I hope you find this information useful and helpful.
Feel free to get in touch again.
Wish you Good Luck
Thank You
Warm Regards,Prathamesh Kapote
The Leather Industry is one of the most less soughted industry a student opts for. What prompted you to get into this career???
Anyways it is your personal choice.
Though please note that employment for higher position in this industry is quite less, but more employment is seen in the manufacturing department. As the above counselor has rightly mentioned that this is a Labour oriented industry, so we see more of employment in the production zone especially the labour class.
Since we need technicially sound people as well as people with managerial skills to handle this class, an MBA can be helpful.
But as earlier mentioned, this industry focuses more on the production team, thus monetary growth cannot be well defined.
Hope this helps.Wish you good luck....
