Hello There!
Education is a very important aspect for a stable, secure and growing career in the long term. I am glad that you seem to have realised this aspect and therefore I am further happy to see you approach CareerGuide for seeking clarification and information on your query.
To be a Marketing Manager, you first need to start from the job profile of a Sales Executive, except if you are graduated from IIMs. Marketing is not Sales, but Sales is Marketing. Therefore you need to master the Sales level first in order to be a good Marketing executive and later a good Marketing Manager. Sales Manager and Marketing Manager are two different personalities and their roles is also different at their individual level. Marketing is a bracd concept while Sales is a narrow concept. Sales is a part of Marketing and Marketing is a part of Business Strategy.
Generally according to my experience and industry interaction, for being into Sales and Marketing actually does NO require a qualification by any rule, since Marketing and Sales are such fields which can be learnt more from experience rather than studying or theory. However theoritically it is very important to know what is Sales and Marketing and the various methods, tools, techniques, strategies used for getting the concerned business product or service or project successful.
However as said earlier, in the long term education is very important.
Therefore for entering into the Marketing and Sales field it is highly recommended to be a graduate (in any stream) and a post graduate in Marketing, through carious PG courses like PGDM, PGDBM, MBA where the specialisation is Marketing.
Having a post graduate education in Marketing is very beneficial to know all the above aspects and that can actually be beneficial to make oneself competent, knowledgeable to handle the Sales and Marketing functions.
To get that 'Manager' desgination, apart from education one needs experience, leadership skills, team building skills, patience, perseverance and passion.
Best Luck.
