Hello My Dear Engineering Aspirant,

I would list your query as one of the very unique however important ones in list of queries I have come across in my more than seven years of career counselling experience.

I would like to also appreciate and thank you that you decided to approach CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance and clarification on your career query.

Engineering stream for girls:

I can understand why this thought that which engineering branch is more suitable for girls came to your mind.

However, I am sure that you must be seeing around that there is now no career left where women have not made their remarkable mark and are excelling like anything and more than men. Defence is one of those fields which is and was considered as the toughest and only males could go into the defence due to their muscular strength and other positive aspects. However there are many women in the defence who are equally working with men there and are not at all considered as different or low or less capable. one can choose which engineering is best for girls

"I would say that if a woman can give birth to a child, then there is nothing impossible for her to do and career is a very small thing compared to her strength of giving birth."

There fore I feel that you should feel proud of being a girl and remove this notion from your mind that girls are weak and so not all career options are suited to them.

Engineering is another stream where women are not less than men.

However considering the physical aspects, if you want to know which engineering field will be more comfortable or suited to girls is, then I would say that apart from CIVIL and Military Engineering, all other Engineering streams are suited to femalesone can choose which engineering is best for girls.
To put it exactly, the list of stream suited for girls is as below:

Psychometric Test:

I would recommend you to undergo a Psychometric Test also available with CareerGuide.com which can tell you exactly about what type of engineering stream will be suited to you individually, if you are aspiring to be an Engineer. This test is a proven and world known method to know the real capabilities, abilities, passion, interests, likings of a career aspirant.one can choose which engineering is best for girls.

Best Luck

Hello

Thank you for choosing CareerGuide.com and writing to us. I am a little surprised to see that girls started finding gender segregation right in education itself although it has been more prevalent in jobs. There are plenty of Engineering courses suitable for girls. Some Engineering branches have been selectively not chosen by girls considering the lifting up or usage of heavy instruments later when they join work. For this reason, Mechanical engineering, Automobile engineering, Aeronautical engineering and Civil engineering are mostly not suited for girls as these branches are dealing with heavy instruments and girls may find it difficult to handle them. However there are girls who still find it interesting to learn these heavy concepts of Engineering where in the percentage of girl students on these program are comparatively less.

As a girl, you can choose to study a Engineering degree related to Biology. Therefore BTech Biotechnology, Bio informatics, Industrial biotechnology, Medical biotechnology and Bio medical engineering are suitable choices. Completing the degree in this stream girls can work at either hospitals, private lab or private companies. The professions in this bio stream are never to deal with heavy instruments like that of mechanical stream and girls are best suited to study an engineering with bio concentration.

Next, you can choose Computer science engineering or B.Tech Information technology courses. These degrees are offering jobs in computer industries in the corporate world. It is a normal day work from 9 to 5 job where in some companies also have night shifts from 9pm to 5am. These degrees also pay relatively high compared to most of the professions.

Finally as a girl you will be best suited to study B.Tech/ B.Des. Fashion technology. This is a popular course among girls considering the glamour attached with this degree and related jobs. Completing the degree, you can make designs for attires and in fact you can also work on specialising only on girl attires. There are many fashion designers who are girls/ woman like Ritu Beri, Ritu Kumar who are well known designers. In fact this is one industry that has majority of female fashion designers and most suitable for girls. Other than this you can choose Architecture design, Interior design, Electrical engineering, Electronics engineering are also suitable for girls.

Good luck.

Hi

I am not surprised to read your query which asks for engineering branches specifically designed for girls. Fortunately and unfortunately academic world has no such scheme to facilitate girls where benchmarking and other academic credentials are always considered as the prime objectives. In the past It has already been evinced that female participation is nowhere in scarce as you are equally important and there is no second thought for giving a trial to the choice of engineering. There is no space of gender discrimination in engineering so make up your mind to go ahead without any fear and fance, as you have targeted one of the challenging career in academic world where everyone is treated as techno-follower and neither less nor more. You are advised to avoid such conservative thinking otherwise it will deviate you from your goal.
Though I would like to suggest you some important branches of engineering which attract girls aspirants the most:
1. Civil Architect: It is one of the most fascinating branches of engineering where girls have equal participation as boys so without any hesitation, anyone can opt this stream with the great competency, and dedication to it. This department offers the basket of civil and architect at interior and exterior designing level. Phyics, Chemistry and Maths are the pre-requisites where the title of program is known as Bachelor in Architecture (B.Arch) being offered at Indian Institute of Technology, and other private University like Amity University Uttar Pradesh, NIT, KITS, BITS Pilani, BIT Mesra etc. Placement is not a matter of concern you will be hand-picked by reputed brands including national and international govts with the smart salary package.

Unorganised Sector

Other than architecture or civil architecture you can also think of these following courses at B.Tech level:
1. Biotechnology: B.Tech in Biotechnology a serious program which deals with living system at various units from unicellular to multicellular organisms, plants, animals, bacteria, human beings, --entire flora and fauna which require the basic knowledge of Botany (Plant Sciences) and Zoology (Animal Sciences) at twelve level with good percentage only then you can attempt IIT-JEE for B.Tech admission in IIT or AIEEE for other engineering Institutions in India.
Other streams you can explore: Information Technology, Robot Sensing etc.

Good luck

Dear aspirant

Thank you for approaching counsellors at CareerGuide.com I appreciate your observation that girls cannot be able to study all types of engineering. I am actually surprised that why you think so? Girls today try learning any subject that attracts them it is not that they are actually confined within one branch of engineering. It is an assumption that girls cannot study certain degree like mechanical engineering aeronautical engineering and as this assumption tends to grows girls are not still going to such degrees.

So please remove this thought and feel free to study whatever you want. This is your life and it is you who are going to study in this life so feel free to learn anything that interests you. However i can give you idea on some of the engineering branches where girls are dominant.

1. Computer science engineering: You can study an engineering in computer science. Girls are these days comfortable and also apt to work in MNC or the corporates. With a degree in computer science you can work as a software engineer at IT industry and as a girl you can usually work for a day shift from 9 to 5. At times you may get night shifts but you can always request for a shift that is comfortable with you.
2. Fashion technology: You can also choose fashion technology this is one of the industry were girls are dominant. You can complete a BTech fashion design course and work at designing companies. You will often have only a 9 to 5 job and this job is very much comfortable for girls.
3. Interior designing: Next option is the interior design. Completing this course you can work at designing companies and your time will also be usually a day time job.
4. Textile designing: You can also study textile designing where after this course you can work at textile manufacturing and designing section. As a woman you can design the graphics for textiles using softwares and it is a comfortable job for women.
5. Architecture: You can also learn architecture. This is completely different from civil engineering where you wont lift heavy things like in civil. Architecture is a nice profession for girls as you will most often work with drawings and computer graphics and software to make design.
6. Biotechnology: This is another nice profession suited for girls. Completing this degree you will work at bio companies, pharma companies, research labs and at hospitals. It is also mostly a day job suiting girls.
