The academic record matters but only in certain situations if you are looking to find a job as a electronics and telecom engineer. If you are still a student you need to be careful about it and thus maintain the nice academic records in case you want to go for those certain jobs that require good academic performances. The below information that has been provided, will help you in figuring out the significance and relevance of having good academic grades and how they will affect your job hunt:

1. If you are a fresher and have no prior work experience, you are more likely to be evaluated on the basis of your academic records. This is because in this case you will not have any work experience to show your performance and the employer can only judge you on the basis of academics. However if you have done enough projects and research work apart from the core academics, you will be able to justify that.

2. In case you have enough work experience under your belt, you do not have to worry about the academic records, yet it is a good thing to have decent academic records. Therefore if you have nice academic records to show you can still show them in your resume.

3. In case you are going to work in the public sector, the role of academic records becomes extremely significant. This is due to the fact that public sector organizations have stringent criteria for hiring and the profile of the candidate has to look good on paper. In certain cases, they don't even pay much attention to your interview performance, but only the academic sheets. This is different from the corporate or private sector where the skills are more important than academic records.

4. If you are going to work in the academic field or in the university, you will have to have well maintained academic records. The academic world has its own strict criteria and one has to fulfill them. Once again these rules are strictly followed in the government funded institutes, not so in the private ones.
