Wow.An interesting and a different career option you have thought about.

Please note that as a Public Relation professional, you would mainly be involved in Marketing or selling a product of the company by using a spokesperson who represents the product and would be able to connect with the audiences.

eg. Spokesperson for Cadbury is Mr. Amitabh Bacchhan.

Not only the person but also creating a tagline or jingles is also part of the PR work.

With this you might have got a hint that PR consists and encompasses all areas right from Marketing to Advertisement to Journalism to HR to Media.

Post 12th, any stream, you have two options.

Firstly you could opt for a Media course, i.e BMM, Bachelors in Mass-media, a 3 years undergraduate course, entrance exam and merit are the admission eligibility criteria.

Earlier BMM had just 2 specializations namely Advertisement and Journalism.Recently they have added PR also as a specialization.
But few colleges provides a combination of Advertisement and PR. whereas few offer it as a separate specialization only.

Pursue any Graduation and then you could opt for an MBA program.
Either an MBA in Advertisement or Journalism or Marketing.

Since PR is more about reaching masses, Marketing has a profile called Business Development, which handles the PR activity of the organization.
But these days few Institutes are offering an MBA in PR too, which you could opt too.

But please note that, PR is not a regular 9 to 5 kind of a job.
Be ready for the straneous round the clock job, target oriented profile, ready for criticism and hearing "NO" as an answer.
You need to develop convincing skills which is a must and a charismatic personality.
At the same time knowledge on advertising, writing jingles, or short stories, scripts, java, Photoshop etc is a must apart from just a PR Degree.

Hope this answers your query.

Wish you good luck.................
