Dear Aspirant,
I would like to first highly appreciate your academic achievements and a strong going work experience in a FMCG. CA, CS, CMA - the triple crown professional qualifications - definitely gives you an edge in the corporate world.
I appreciate that you approached CareerGuide.com for your further career progress.
I would like to advice that with those solid qualifications and year by year increasing work experience, you can definitely aim at being a Head of Finance / Strategy / Operations / Taxation, etc. in FMCG sector. This would be possible with another 3-4 years of experience being added. Total of ten and more years of work experience would ideally make you eligible and knowledgeable enough to take on those management positions.
After you complete CMA and may be after one or two years down the line, you may think of doing a PGPX Management courses from top IIMs/BSchools/ISB. This should be the last academic addition in your career.
I do not see any challenges ahead for a person like you.
Best wishes
Thanks for a quick reply.
I am currently holding designation of senior manager and next year will be promoted as Financial controller (company policy require some minimum years of experience from previous designation while giving new designation).
My Company size is ~225 crore. So far my performance was best considering the performance rating I am getting since last 4 years.
However recently I am feeling that I should look for new role with responsibilities of bigger and broader areas (say company size of 1000 cr) to gain more insight. And that is why pursuing CIMA also. I am also feeling that areas of learning are limited considering the company size and geography or operations.
What do you suggest-
1. Should I look for new job? If yes, what is the best practice for looking for new jobs in my case if networking is limited. Or
2. Should I wait? if yes, how long.
3. Or do you suggest something else?
And your suggestion on going for PGPX after 3-4 years. When should I start preparing for it?
Regards
In order to post replies to the question: "Hi Mr. Alok.. I am CA, CS working with FMCG company with 6.5 years of experience. Looking for guidance on further career path. I am also pursuing CIMA and currently in final stage."
