To be a lecturer one needs to have a P.Hd in the subject one is interested in teaching.
Never the less, after completing your masters or post graduation degree, appear for NET / SET exams and join a college as an assistant lecturer. While teaching itself you can enrol for a P.hd and then become a lecturer.

To become a lecturer of Arts, you should appear in NET (National Eligibility Test).
It’s a national level entrance exam through which you can get selected for Junior Research Fellowship and for the post of Assistant professor.
The last UGC NET was conducted on 8 July 2018, Now from 2018 onward the NET Exam will be conducted by NTA.
The exam will be conducted by National Testing Agency in December 2018.
Every year the NET Exam is conducted two times in a year.
